Macrolane Injections

Macrolane is no longer manufactured.
Harley Buttock Clinic uses Hyacorp MLF2 as the replacement for Macrolane.
The product was previously produced by Galderma and is based on the same substance as found in other Hyaluronic Acid fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm, both popular temporary dermal filler brands in the UK.
The main ingredient in Macrolane is a synthetic Hyaluronic Acid which is similar to the that naturally produced by the body.
Macrolane has been used in over 9 million treatments in over 70 countries worldwide.
Is Macrolane safe?
Macrolane consists of Hyaluronic acid, a substance which exists naturally in the body. Extensive trials since 2002 have shown no long-term serious side effects. Macrolane has been granted full European approval for use on the body (CE marked). Hyaluronic Acid based fillers have been used in cosmetic surgery for over 20 years, and have been clinically proven to be safe and effective.
Naturally occurring Hyaluronic Acid (HA) undergoes a process less than 1% is stabilised (cross-linked) to form links between the molecules, making the HA more durable.
The body recognises the Macrolane HA gel and therefore there is that carries minimal risk of allergic reaction or infection, the cross-linking of the molecules allows Macrolane HA to have longer durability.
Hyaluronic Acid is a natural component of skin and plays an important part in skin health.
How much does it cost?
The cost of buttock enhancement depends on the volume of the filler to be injected. In our experience between 200 and 600 ml of buttock filler provides a substantial, yet natural enhancement for most people.

Are there any side-effects that I should be aware of?
The use of Macrolane in buttock reshaping has been driven by the desire to find a less risky, non-invasive method of buttock reshaping that does not need to be performed under general anaesthetic. By performing the procedure using local anaesthetic, there are none of the risks that accompany buttock implant surgery performed under a general anaesthetic.
There are also no incisions made, so there is no risk of scarring, and downtime is minimal.
As with all Hyaluronic Acid based fillers, Macrolane can be dissolved into water instantly using Hyaluronidase enzyme injections, thus reversing the procedure. This provides an additional safety net.
How long should results last?
The results of a buttock injections are immediate, with the results fading from 12 to 24 months following the procedure. The procedure will need to be repeated again in 9-18 months’.
A number of patients come into the clinic for annual top-ups to maintain their buttock shape and volume.
* Individual results may vary from person to person.
